As someone who is passionate about guiding others, I am driven to bring out the beauty and potential within the people around me. A hobby of mine is dancing and I love to integrate my creativity in any shape or form. Now, I plan to introduce my talents and skills to pursue dentistry and provide care to the underprivileged of society.

MY EXPERIENCE

YOUTH PROGRAMS DIRECTOR, MABUHAY HEALTH CENTER

May 2016 - Present

  • Educate students of Mabuhay Galing Bata:Developing a Culturally Sensitive Health Education Curriculum in a Bilingual Filipino American After-School Program monthly curriculum based on topics students are interested in and how it relates to the Filipino Culture such as Diabetes, Consent, Social Media, Exercise, and Relationships (28 students)

  • Serve as an inspiration to youth and help foster self-reflection habits as well as improve adverse effects of adverse childhood experiences, trauma, physical/emotional abuse through creative activities, art therapy, and other variegated activities for self expression

  • Encourage community advocacy and discuss issues affecting students and South of Market community in SOMA Youth Collective/Collaborative Community Partners Meeting and other SOMA community events with students of Bessie Carmichael School/Filipino Education Center

CERTIFIED HEALTH COACH, MABUHAY HEALTH CENTER

August 2015 - Present

  • Certified in Mental Health First Aid USA to provide initial help to people experiencing mental health problems such as depression, anxiety disorders, psychosis and substance use disorders

  • Communicate effectively as a team with UCSF preceptors and UCSF professional dental, medical, and pharmacy students in providing tailored service to each patient once a month at free clinic in Bayanihan Community Center

  • Provide health screening services such as blood pressure checks, glucose screenings, pulse oximetry readings, temperature and empower patients in creating a manageable, tailored action plan for themselves

  • Assess mental health of patient through PHQ-9 Patient Health Quetionnaire-9 and CAGE-AID Questionnaire and educate patients of their health

  • Instruct proper dental hygiene health once a week to 1st-5th graders in Boys and Girls Club of San Francisco Cavity Free Zone Program (15 students)
